Shopian Police seizes illicit timber

April 16: Police in Shopian arrested a timber smuggler and seized illicit timber.

Acting on specific information officers from Police Station Keller intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK13C-2113 in Maishwara area of Keller district Shopian and seized 07 logs of illicit timber from the vehicle. The arrested timber smuggler has been identified as Tariq Ahmad Paswal resident of Shalidar Zrakan. He has been shifted to Police Station Keller where he remains in custody. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

A case FIR No. 12/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Keller & investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Our consistent actions against anti social elements should reassure the community members that we are making every effort to keep our society free of crime. Police has resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal activities.
