Srinagar, April 26 (KINS): Scholars from various universities are receiving all applause for being on the forefront to help the hospitals in conducting testing to contain COVID-19 in Kashmir.
There are various scholars from Kashmir University and the Sheri Kashmir University of Agriculture Science and Technology Kashmir (SKUAST-K) who have voluntarily come forward to help the hospitals and have to test hundreds of samples a day.
These research scholars with expertise in bio-chemistry, bio-technology, and microbiology are serving at SKIMS, Soura and GMC hospitals.
They came forward after the administration sought assistance from research scholars in the testing.
“These research scholars have volunteered to be part of COVID-19 labs in various hospitals. Unmindful of their health, they do testing at Chest Disease Hospital and SKIMS Soura,” an official of SKIMS Soura told news agency KINS.
The official said these research scholars were helping the SKIMS staff in conducting tests. “Without their support, it was not possible to conduct tests daily in large numbers,” the official added.
He said that these scholars are well trained because they perform these kinds of tests in University laboratories during their research.
Pictures of their working in labs have also gone viral on the social media where they receive all praise from the people.

Head of Chest Disease Hospital Dr Naveed Shah also wrote on Twitter, “They along with all the staff of hospital from sweeper, security to residents deserve an applause … they are the real heroes and backbone of the fighting force.”
A face book user Aijaz Ahmad wrote, “You are the frontline warriors not because you are fearless but because you have overcome the fear to save lives.”
“The students of KU who voluntarily helping the doctors and paramedical staff at CD hospital needs applause. They are real heros fighting against COVID-19,” another Netizen wrote.
The Kashmir University has also handed high-speed equipment including 1 RT-qPCR (Real time thermal cycler device) to SKIMS, two high-speed refrigerated centrifuges (used for separation of aqueous solutions and suspensions of different densities), one benchmark heat block, and one vortex machine to GMC Srinagar.(KINS)
