Bear captured in Handwara village, second in a week

Srinagar, June 04 (KINS) : Another bear was captured in north Kashmir’s Handwara village on Thursday, wildlife authorities told news agency KINS.

Reports reaching news agency KINS said the bear was spotted in Chogal village since yesterday night and in the meantime there was a hue and cry in the area and created panic like situation in the village and accordingly wildlife department and police was informed they said.

An incharge wildlife officer for north Kashmir Mohammad Maqbool Baba talking with news agency KINS said, “the bear was captured earlier this day by a team at Chogal area of Handwara. Officer said a bear was captured alive after being tranquilized. “The bear would be released in the higher reaches of the district”.

This is second time in a week Wildlife authorities captured a wild bear from Chogal area of north-Kashmir’s Kupwara district.(KINS)
