Central Kashmir: Gunfight breaks out in Srinagar

Srinagar, June 21: Encounter starts between militants and government forces in Pozwalpora area of Zunimar in Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.

Reports reaching said, a joint team of Police and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Pozwalpora.

As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.

A senior police told the exchange of fire between the joint team and the militants. As per the sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped.

Pertinently this is second encounter in Srinagar, in last encounter Top Hizb commander Junaid Sahrai among three militants were killed.

Meanwhile Mobile Internet services have been suspended in Srinagar as Precaution measures.(GNS)
