Batamaloo Gunfight: Woman, militant killed, CRPF officer injured,operation continues

Srinagar, September 17:A 45 year old Woman was among two killed and a CRPF officer injured in an ongoing encounter in Batamaloo area of Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.

A senior police officer told that, a lady identified as Kounsar Riyaz of Batamalo recieved bullet wound during cross firing, she was immediately shifted to Police hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

He further told that a unidentified militant has been killed in an ongoing enounter and a Deputy commandant of CRPF also recieved bullet wound and was subsequently shifted to 92 Base hospital for treatment.

Earlier, According to the reports reaching , a joint team of Police and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Batamaloo.

As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.(GNS)
