Militants killed in Shopian encounter identified

November 18: Police have identified the militants killed in an encounter in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
In a statement police said that killed militants have been identified as Nawaz Ahmad Wagay son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Rebban Zainapora and Yawar Wani son of Ali Mohammad Wani resident of Batnoor Litter Pulwama.
They were affiliated with militant outfit Al-Badar, police said.
Police claimed that arms and ammunition including incriminating materials were recovered from the site of encounter.

“Citizens are once again requested not to venture inside the encounter zone since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials. People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosives materials if any,” the statement said.
