Keller shopian shuts against alleged high handedness of Forces

Shopain, March 09 : Keller area of South kashmir’s Shopian is observing complete shutdown on Saturday against the alleged high handedness of forces.

Local sources told that beating and thrashing local youth has become order of the day and no one takes cognizance of the issue.

A local youth on condition of anonymity said every day the mobile phones of youth are snatched by forces and asked to visit the local 44 RR camp.

On visiting the camp, they are beaten ruthlessly without any provocation, he said.

Locals said we have been visiting the offices of civil administration and police frequently regarding the issue but so far nothing has been done.

We are observing shutdown and protesting against the high handedness of forces since morning so that such incidents will be stopped once for all, they said.

All business establishments and shops are closed in the area while as transport is also off the roads.

A senior police official when contacted said that a team of police officials is visiting the area to pacify the protestors.

Anyone who is found guilty in beating local youth without provocation will be dealt according to the law, he said.(KNO)
