Won’t change stand on Kashmir issue, says Mirwaiz at Jamia Masjid

Srinagar: A day after he arrived back home after facing NIA questioning in New Delhi, Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday said that the Kashmiri leadership won’t change their stand due to coercion.

“Our stand is based on truth. We won’t change it because of the use of force as it represents the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” said the Mirwaiz while addressing the Friday congregation at Jamia Masjid.

He said that the leadership of India, Pakistan and Kashmir have to resolve the issue.

“Elections will continue to be held and governments will come and go but Kashmir issue will remain there till it is not resolved,” said the Mirwaiz.

He said that the armed forces and the people of Kashmir are getting consumed in Kashmir conflict and that the government of India was not taking any initiative to resolve this issue.

On Thursday afternoon, Mirwaiz arrived back in Srinagar after spending three days at the headquarters of National Investigation Agency (NIA) in New Delhi.
