Students kneeling in the stink and litter

Sopore : Cleanliness is next to Godliness, one of the first phrases taught in school. But the students of Govt middle school Mahrajpora Sopore area of North Kashmir Baramulla district having a hard time studying in their school.
Just outside school, there is a huge pile of rubbish strewn all over.  For the passerby it is also hard to breathe as no one has turned up to collect garbage for weeks. children who are in school for the most part of the day have hard times studying in such environment.
Refuse includes household leftovers, food, garbage from shops etc. This spot is one of garbage disposal sites demarcated by the people and industries on the Bank of Jehlum . The area outside the school has become a soft spot for dumping garbage, which allows mosquitoes and flies to thrive on it. The area smells so pungent that one can hardly breathe while passing from there.
The situation gets worsen in summers, reportedly approx 50 students were taken to hospital due to this dung. And every single day one-two student get fainted because of the smell. Students added.
Students as well as Teachers shared their grievance with Kashmir Indepth Said in decades we are getting fake hopes from Administration as well as Sopore Municipal Council . They said
Meanwhile Kashmir Indepth took the issue to Additional Deputy commissioner Ashiq Hussian Lilly he told  that “i brought it in notice ,will  chair a meeting with Executive officer Sopore will take out this garbage from School Surroundings” .
Executive Officer Sopore Lateef Ahmad Mir told Kashmir Indepth that every day we collect tones of garbage from the town, we are helpless  , we took this Issue to DDC Baramulla but all in vain. He said “we can’t do anything until get proper response from Divisional Kashmir”.
Zonal Education officer Miss Fahmeeda told Kashmir Indepth “I’m very ashamed, i went there i couldn’t stay for mere five minutes , how School children’s stay in the situation for the whole day ,it is big slap for education Sector. She said she will take  this issue to Chief Education Baramulla and DDC Baramulla to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
