Shopian, 21 May: Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement leader Shehla Rashid Tuesday visited the family of 14 year old pellet victim Asif Ahmad Parray in Handiew in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, she said in a statement.

The statement said, she had earlier visited the child at SMHS hospital, Srinagar yesterday, where the family apprised her of their woes. Asif’s father, Zahoor Ahmad Parray, has been held under various sections and is currently lodged in Imam Sahab police station, Shopian. “Moved by the family’s plight, Shehla Rashid also met the SSP Shopian, Sandeep Choudhury, and urged him to release Zahoor Ahmad Parray, as he has been held under various charges without evidence. In a statement, Shehla Rashid said that, “We have done what was in our capacity and urge everyone else to come forward and help the family. We have also urged the SSP Shopian, Mr. Sandeep Choudhury, to look into the matter and release Zahoor Ahmad Parray, as he is innocent,” the statement added.
