Nationwide strike: CITU organizes protest in Srinagar

Many associations in unison demand justice

Srinagar, Jan 08 :  In wake of the nationwide strike called by trade unions, the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) held a protest in Srinagar against the anti-employee policies of the government.

According to the wire service— many associations including Horticulture Non-Gazetted Employees Union, Kashmir Constructional Workers Union, Asha Workers Union Kashmir, Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union  J&K, Kashmir Handicraft Workers and Artisans Union, Casual Labourers of Power Development Department (PDD), Public Heath Engineering (PHE) and other departments held a joint protest, which was organized by CITU.

The associations raised slogans against anti-people and anti-employee decisions of the government, demanding the people at the helm to change their behavior.

Many leaders including Abdul Gani Bhat, Abdul Rashid Najar, Abdul Rashid Pandit, Muneera, Mubeena and Fayaz Ahmad spoke on the occasion. The protesters had assembled at Srinagar’s Pratap Park where they protested against recently implemented Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and other anti-labour policies and decision of the government.

The protesters under the banner of CITU demanded government to change their behavior at an earliest so that the people especially labourers would heave a sigh of relief.

Meanwhile, the Bank employees as well as the employees working insurance companies here have also staged a protest at their respective offices and demanded justice. (KNO)
