Lt Governor felicitates DPS Srinagar students

Two student-athletes of DPS Srinagar- Sheikh Rumman Mohammad Inam and Barik Parvaiz were felicitated by the Hon’ble Lt Governor UT J&K Girish Chandra Murmu on the eve of Republic Day at an event held at Raj Bhawan Jammu on 26th Jan 2020.

Besides, the Lt Governor, the Hon’ble Chief Justice Geeta Mittal, DGP J&K Dilbagh Singh, ADGPs Abdul Gani Mir and Syed Afadul Mujtaba also attended the felicitation ceremony. Both athletes have shone in the sport of Thang-Ta at National and International levels having won gold medals in their respective categories at a competition held in Chigo City of South Korea in September 2019.

Besides both shone at the World Cup held in the Philippines in addition to National Federation Cups. The Hon’ble Lt Governor commended the talents and performance of both athletes and praised the efforts of the school in allowing them to flourish.

Reacting to the development, the Principal Alistair R A Freese said, “It is heartening to see that young sportsmen are acknowledged for the efforts. We pride in the efforts of our students.” The Chairman, Vijay Dhar also expressed satisfaction and delight at the development saying “Our School has always been at the forefront of making talent flourish, and contribute to the development of the state in every way possible. I am happy that the efforts of the school are recognised.”
