Govt sets up isolation facility at Sanat Nagar for passengers

‘Patient admitted to SKIMS with suspected coronavirus symptoms’

As part of preparation for coronavirus prevention, J&K government Wednesday set up at Sanat Nagar here a ‘full-fledged screening and isolation facility’ for passengers arriving at Srinagar airport.

The 30-bedded health center, earlier known as Sanat Nagar Maternity,

was Wednesday opened up and prepared to serve as a standalone isolation center.

The center has been created to house screening facilities for passengers arriving from places affected by coronavirus.

The facility, Officer on Special Duty Health and Medical Education department DrShafqat Khan said, will have 24×7 medical staff to screen the passengers. In addition, the facility will have isolation to house suspected patients. “We are equipping the facility to act as a safe and scientific quarantine,” he said.

In addition, community health centers at Chanapora and Ompora have been designated as support facilities for coronavirus preparation. Medical teams from J&K are being updated by World Health Organisation regarding coronavirus.

Meanwhile a patient was admitted to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) with suspected coronavirus symptoms. The patient had a travel history of Thailand and has been admitted to the quarantine wars of the Institute.

The Institute has created a 20-bedded isolation facility as a backup as part of its preparedness drill.
