Srinagar Police arrests 02 drug peddlers; Psychotropic substance recovered

Srinagar, June 24 (KINS): Continuing its drive against drug dealings in Srinagar, Police Saturday said that it arrested two drug peddlers and recovered Psychotropic substance from their possession.

In a statement issued to news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) the police said that officers at a checkpoint established at Shampora Chowk intercepted a vehicle Sentro bearing registration number JK01J-5857 with two persons onboard. They have been identified as Moomin Mazoor Kak resident of Kak Mohalla Nowhatta and Samam Bashir Shah resident of Roshangarh Mohalla Nowhatta. During checking officers were able to recover 544 banned capsules of Simplex and Spasmoproxyvon Plus from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Nowhatta where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized by the officers.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 27/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Nowhatta and investigation has been taken up.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Police has resolved to deal robustly with drug peddlers.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace. (KINS)
