Int’l Youth Day: GDC Nowshera organizes online activities

RAJOURI, AUGUST 14: Red Ribbon Club, Government Degree College, Nowshera, in collaboration with J&K State AIDS Control Society, organized a series of online activities to mark the International Youth Day, 2020 with the theme Youth Engagement for Global Action.

To mark the day, 4 different events were organized – “Face mask designing and making contest” on August 5; Slogan writing competition on Natural Ways to Boost the Immunity against COVID-19 on August 7; One-minute audio on Role of Youth in Spreading Awareness against COVID-19 on August 9 and Poster making on the theme Prevention against HIV/AIDS” on August 11.

The main purpose of organizing these activities was to raise awareness among the students about the public health threats like HIV/AIDS & COVID-19 and to provide a platform to express their drawing, painting, designing and sewing skills.

In the Face mask designing contest, a number of RRC Volunteers participated with great enthusiasm. Kajal Sudan (B. Sc.- IV) secured First place, Ashish (B. Sc.-II) stood Second and Priya Heer (B. Sc.-II) bagged Third position.

The Slogan writing competition on the theme Natural Ways to Boost the Immunity against COVID-19 witnessed participation of 22 students. Amandeep Kour  (B. Sc.-II) stood First, Kajal Sudan (B. Sc.- IV) secured Second place while the Third position was shared by 3 students:- Anjli Choudhary (B. Sc.-IV), Esha Sharma (B. Sc.-II) and Rajni Sharma (B. Sc.-IV).

For the event based on “One-minute audio on Role of Youth in Spreading Awareness against COVID-19”, the students shared their ideas about  the role of world youth   in fighting the COVID pandemic. In this event, 3 students shared First place:- Esha Sharma (B. Sc.-II), Rachita Sharma (B. Sc.-IV) and Gagandeep Choudhary (B. Sc.-IV). Second position was shared by Adil Manhas (B. Sc.-II) and Sanjana Sharma (B. Sc.-II). Third position was also shared by B. Sc. Semester IV, Rajni Sharma and Kajal Sudan.

In the Poster making competition on the theme “Prevention against HIV/AIDS”, the participants expressed various ways used for prevention of this deadly disease. Rajni Sharma (B. Sc.-IV) bagged First position, the second place was shared by 3 students:-Anjli Choudhary (B. Sc.-IV), Kajal Sudan (B. Sc.-IV) and Sonia Choudhary (B. Sc.-IV). Palvi Choudhary (B. Sc.-IV) stood Third in this event.

All these activities were organized by Prof. Pooja Devi, Nodal Officer Red Ribbon Club, GDC Nowshera under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Surinder Kumar, Principal of the college.

Prof. Nisha from GDC Kathua, Dr. Anu Sharma from GDC Reasi and Dr. Shveta Saroop from GDC Kathua adjudged the events. The top 3 positions in each event were provided “E-Certificates of Excellence”.
