DC Udhampur distributes pension, scholarship sanction letters among 17 Saksham beneficiaries 

UDHAMPUR, JUNE 30(KINS):- Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Indu Kanwal Chib today handed over pension sanction letters to 9 beneficiaries under the Special Assistance Scheme for Covid Mortalities (SASCM/Saksham) launched by Lt. Governor of UT of J&K.

The scheme envisages provision of special financial assistance to the families who lost their sole bread earner to Covid. Under the Scheme, the surviving spouse plus one eldest member of the family shall be provided pension, while 2 children of the family will be provided the scholarship for continuing studies.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner expressed sympathies with the families of Covid-19 Victims and distributed sanction orders to 9 pension beneficiaries and 8 Scholarship beneficiaries.

The Deputy Commissioner directed   District Programme Officer Udhampur and District Social Welfare Officer  to extend all possible support to families of Covid victims and directed them to reach out to the families who have lost  a family member due to Covid. She also directed to explore the guidelines of PM-CARES for providing more support to such families. (KINS)
