DM Shopian flags-off ‘Fit India Freedom Run’

SHOPIAN, AUGUST 13 ( KINS ) : The District Magistrate (DM), Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today flagged-off ‘Fit India Freedom Run’ under the aegis of Fit India Movement to commemorate ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’.

The event was organized by the Department of Youth Services & Sports, Shopian in collaboration with District Administration Shopian in which District Information Centre Shopian, Education Department and other departmental officials participated.

Speaking on the occasion, The District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Gurmukh Singh Dutta said that the main aim of organizing such events is to engage youth in sports activities to keep them physically and mentally fit.

Dutta also highlighted the initiatives taken by District Administration to give flip to sports activities by involving youth in large numbers so that they can get rid of negative thoughts and channelize their energy in a proper way.

He further added that such programs will be conducted in future also to encourage the youth of the district and also highlighted the importance of physical and mental fitness in the development of a healthy society.
