DC B’gam briefs on Covid scenario in the district

BUDGAM, AUGUST 31 ( KINS ) : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza today appealed the people of the district for strict adherence to Covid-19 Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) other SOPs and undertake vaccination to prevent further spread of Covid-19 and emergence of 3rd wave as predicted by the health experts.

The DC was addressing a routine press briefing to present the overall Covid situation of the district besides containment and mitigation measures adopted in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that strict adherence to precautions like wearing masks, following hygiene methods, avoidance of unnecessary gatherings and ensuring fast track vaccination are keys to eliminate the looming threat of 3rd wave of Covid-19.

 

Regarding weekly Covid status of the district, the DC revealed that presently there are 107 active positive cases, besides there is some increase as new cases have been reported from the areas of Beerwah and Magam.

To avoid the situation getting out of control, the DC said that the district Administration is doing mass sampling particularly in the vulnerable areas to trace out new infections.

The DC said the recovery rate is at 98 percent while positivity rate is still at 0.5 percent in the district. He reiterated that the administration has not down sized the grip on the situation and all arrangements are in place but the public need to display elements of seriousness and Cooperation amid the Pandemic.

Regarding vaccination DC said about 60 percent vaccination in the age group of 18 to 44 has been achieved. Persons falling in such groups still unvaccinated are requested to get vaccinated and take it as an urgent requirement.
