Srinagar Sep 10 (KINS): Maintaining that transparent system has been put in place in corporations, Principal Secretary Industries and Commerce Department Ranjan Prakash Thakur said corrupt practices won’t be allowed and a decision will be taken very soon against officials found involved in wrong doings in Jammu and Kashmir.
There are reports about corruption in different corporations and no action was taken against corrupt officials in the past.
However, Principal Secretary Industries and Commerce Department Ranjan Prakash Thakur said authorities have placed a transparent system in place.
“There have been wrong doings including illegal appointments in the past in Jammu and Kashmir. I recently chaired a meeting where I told officials no one will be spared who is found involved in corruption. A decision will be taken very soon who have been found involved in wrong doings in corporations,” he told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS).
“We will not allow overstaying of officers. Everyone has to deliver. We won’t allow any wrong doings. People don’t need to give any bribe to get industrial land. There is now a transparent system in place. You need to apply online for setting up an industry or require any land. You don’t need to come to the office for any formalities,” he said.
Jammu and Kashmir administration recently said that it will review the performance of all government servants above the age of 48 or those having completed 22 years of govt service and relieve those found to be “ineffective in work and are not fit to continue in the post held”.
In the past it has been seen that ineligible officers were given charge of managing directors, managers in various corporations. There are some officers who have not been transferred for last more than 10 years. While some have been sent to deputations and have not been sent back to parent departments for years.
Similarly, sources said the government has decided to merge State Industrial Development Corporation (SIDCO) and Scale Industrial Development Corporation(SICOP) and name it JK Industrial Development Corporation.
“The JK Industrial Development Corporation will have Chief Managing Director, Managing Director and other officials to run its affairs. Now the file has been sent to the Law Department to suggest necessary amendments required in the act,” they said.
The move comes as Centre recently unveiled a new industrial policy for attracting investments in J-K and the administration of UT identifying industrial zones.
Earlier, Ministry of Home Affairs had amended The Jammu & Kashmir Development Act-1970 in October 2020 for setting up of J-K Industrial Development Corporation.
According to the amendments, the Corporation will be set up for the purposes of securing and assisting in the rapid and orderly establishment, and organisation of industries in industrial areas and industrial estates in J-K. (KINS)
