J&K’s underprivileged youth embark on nationwide tour, immerse themselves in India’s cultural tapestry

Srinagar, Dec 25: In a revolutionary initiative under the ‘Watan Ko Jano’ program, 250 underprivileged students from various districts of Jammu and Kashmir are embarking on a transformative journey across India to enrich their perspectives and gain exposure to the diverse cultural tapestry of the nation.
Spearheaded by dedicated mentors and coordinators, this initiative seeks to foster national integration and unity among the youth, breaking the barriers of their immediate surroundings.
“The students, drawn from diverse backgrounds and regions in Jammu and Kashmir, are not merely tourists. They are active participants in interactive sessions, workshops, and cultural exchange programs meticulously designed to provide them with a comprehensive understanding of India’s cultural, historical, and social fabric,” one of the top central officials told news agency KNS .
He said that the journey has taken them through significant destinations, including the rich heritage of Jaipur, the spiritual ambiance of Ajmer, and the vibrant dynamism of the capital, Delhi.
“The ‘Watan Ko Jano’ program is more than a sightseeing tour; it is an empowering initiative aimed at liberating the youth from the constraints of their immediate environment. Exposure to different regions, traditions, and people is anticipated to broaden their horizons and contribute significantly to their personal and intellectual growth,” the official added, wishing anonymity.
Expressing their gratitude, the students, many of whom are venturing beyond their home state for the first time, view the program as a life-changing experience.
The initiative mirrors a commitment to invest in the future leaders of Jammu and Kashmir, fostering unity and understanding that transcends geographical and cultural boundaries.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already engaged in a meaningful interaction with these students from Jammu and Kashmir.
Commending the initiative for promoting national unity, PM Modi highlighted the importance of such programs in broadening the horizons of the youth. The students had the unique opportunity to pose questions to the Prime Minister, covering a spectrum of topics from their journey experiences to aspirations for the future.
Expressing delight at the students’ enthusiasm, Prime Minister Modi encouraged them to leverage the exposure gained through ‘Watan Ko Jano’ for personal and intellectual growth.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to empowering the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, creating avenues for them to significantly contribute to the nation’s progress.
The interaction concluded with PM Modi extending his best wishes to the students, urging them to carry forward the spirit of national integration imbibed during their tour.
This event underscores the government’s dedication to fostering a sense of unity and understanding among the youth, transcending regional boundaries. ‘Watan Ko Jano’ stands as a shining example of how educational initiatives can serve as powerful catalysts for positive change and societal transformation.
It is worth mentioning here that in a noteworthy development, a delegation of young individuals from Jammu and Kashmir, participating in the ‘Watan Ko Jano’ program, had the privilege of meeting President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
During this interaction, President Murmu imparted valuable insights to the youth, emphasizing the inclusive nature of democracy and the ample opportunities it provides for those who believe in its principles.
Addressing the delegation, President Murmu encouraged the young participants to embrace the democratic ethos that assures equal opportunities for all. She underscored the importance of belief, dedication, and hard work as essential elements for moving forward in a democratic society.
The President’s words aimed to inspire and instill confidence in the youth, emphasizing that their commitment and efforts can lead to meaningful and rewarding paths within the democratic framework.
