Anantnag Police Busts Illicit Trade Operation, Seizes Contraband Substance

Srinagar, Jan 12: Anantnag Police successfully uncovered a substantial consignment of contraband substances in a well-coordinated operation.
Acting on reliable information, the police identified a family involved in the illegal trade of illicit alcohol and cannabis charas powder. The family members—Mohd Ramzan Ganai, Shahzada Akhter, and Zubair Ramzan Ganai—were allegedly operating under a premeditated criminal conspiracy.
Under a case registered as FIR No. 04/2024 U/S 8/20,29 NDPS Act and 48,50 Excise Act at Police Station Mattan, a search team, comprising Anantnag Police and an Executive Magistrate, conducted a thorough search of the suspects’ residence, including a Swift Dzire car, Baleno car, and a motorcycle. The search revealed concealed hideouts containing approximately 9.27 kgs of charas powder and 867 bottles of illicit alcohol.
All three accused individuals were promptly arrested during the operation, and their assets, including the Swift Dzire, Baleno car, KTM motorcycle, and cash amounting to Rs. 13,325, were seized on the spot. Anantnag Police, in collaboration with the Executive Magistrate, is continuing the investigation into the case.
Community cooperation is encouraged, urging individuals to come forward with any information about drug peddlers in their vicinity. Anantnag Police emphasizes stringent legal action against those involved in drug peddling, assuring the community of ongoing efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society.
