Srinagar, August 14: In celebration of India’s 78th Independence Day, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) UT administration have announced a series of prestigious medals. Among the awardees are 50 J&K Police officials who have been honored with the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, Meritorious Service, and the Police Medal for Gallantry. Specifically, 31 officials received the Police Medal for Gallantry, two were awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Services, and 17 earned the Police Medal for Meritorious Services.
Additionally, the Jammu & Kashmir UT administration has recognized 133 police personnel with the Jammu & Kashmir Police Medal for Gallantry and the Jammu & Kashmir Police Medal for Meritorious Service. This includes 127 recipients of the JKP Medal for Gallantry and six for the JKP Medal for Meritorious Service.
Director General of Police, J&K, R.R. Swain, extended his congratulations to the awardees and their families. He praised their unwavering dedication, bravery, and commitment, stating, “This recognition is a testament to the J&K Police’s steadfast service to the nation and its people. The sacrifices made by these officers have not gone unnoticed, and I am proud to lead such a courageous force. I wish them continued success and recognition.”
The DGP also expressed appreciation to the MHA and the J&K administration for acknowledging the valor and sacrifices of the J&K Police. This recognition serves as motivation for the force to continue striving for excellence in their service.
Notable recipients include SSP Imtiyaz Hussain Mir and SSP Joginder Singh, who received the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, while ADGP Nitish Kumar, DIG Shakti Kumar Pathak, and others were honored with the JKP Medal for Meritorious Service.
