Srinagar, Oct 08 (KINS): With the National Conference (NC)-Congress alliance surpassing the 46-seat majority mark, NC chief Farooq Abdullah and party vice president Omar Abdullah greeted jubilant supporters, celebrating their victory in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. The alliance, which is poised to form the first elected government in the Union Territory since the abrogation of Article 370, has emerged as a dominant political force.
Farooq Abdullah expressed his gratitude to the people, stating, “This victory is not just for the National Conference, but for every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir who believes in peace and progress. The people have spoken loud and clear.”
His son, Omar Abdullah, who won both the Budgam and Ganderbal seats, echoed the sentiment. “No one can deny that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have shown love to the National Conference, and whatever was left was made up by our alliance partners,” Omar said.
The NC-Congress alliance’s triumph is seen as a significant step toward restoring democratic governance in Jammu and Kashmir, with Omar Abdullah expected to play a key role in the new administration.(KINS)
