Congress Opts Out of Joining Ministry in Newly Formed J&K Coalition Govt

Srinagar, October 16, 2024 – The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chief, Tariq Hameed Karra, said on Wednesday that the Congress Party will not be part of the newly formed coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir.
Karra emphasized that the Congress has consistently demanded the restoration of statehood to J&K, a promise that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made repeatedly in public meetings but has yet to fulfill.
“We are dissatisfied with the lack of progress on this issue, and as a result, we have decided not to join the Ministry at this time,” Karra said. He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to continuing its fight for the restoration of full statehood to the region.(KINS)
