Srinagar, Oct 27 (KINS): The Army’s Rana Battalion, stationed in Bagtore near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Gurez sector of Bandipora district, organized a vibrant event today to commemorate Infantry Day. News agency KINS reported that the celebration took place at the Youth Centre in Bagtore and drew the participation of local residents, including enthusiastic schoolchildren.
“Observed annually on October 27, Infantry Day honors the dedication and sacrifices of the Indian Army’s Infantry, the largest and most essential fighting force. This day is historically significant, marking the first deployment of Indian Army Infantrymen to Srinagar Airport in 1947. Their timely arrival successfully repelled invaders from the outskirts of Srinagar, thwarting a Pakistan-backed tribal invasion and safeguarding Jammu and Kashmir”.
Local resident Mohammad Sultan highlighted the event’s impact, stating, “The Army’s Rana Battalion organized an Infantry Day celebration at the Youth Centre in Bagtore. Through this program, children and youth had the opportunity to learn about Infantry Day and its significance, paying tribute to the sacrifices of the Indian Army’s infantry.”
The Bagtore event featured a diverse range of activities and educational segments aimed at inspiring pride and fostering awareness of the Army’s historical role in national defense among schoolchildren.(KINS)
