As winter hits, KPDCL urges consumers to rationalize gadget use to avoid power curtailments

KINS DESK
Srinagar, Nov 04 (KINS): As the winter season approaches, the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) is advising consumers to exercise caution and rationalize their use of electrical gadgets.

The KPDCL in its advisory as per news agency KINS said that with the cold weather setting in, the demand for electricity rises sharply, leading to an increased load on the power distribution network.

“This surge in demand can pose a significant challenge for KPDCL to maintain the planned curtailment schedule, aimed at balancing supply and demand across the Kashmir valley. We urge consumers to avoid switching on multiple high-power devices simultaneously, which could cause an excessive spike in load, straining the network. Instead, staggered use of heating devices, geysers, and other high-consumption appliances can help reduce pressure on the grid and minimize unexpected power cuts”.

The advisory comes as KPDCL gears up to ensure a stable power supply for its consumers during the harsh winter months.

By adhering to responsible energy practices, KPDCL aims to maintain an uninterrupted supply, reduce the risk of system overloads, and limit the need for extended curtailments.(KINS)
