Gorkha Community protests against special status resolution, burns effigies of Deputy CM

Jammu , Nov 7: The Gorkha community in Jammu staged a protest against the resolution passed in the legislative assembly calling for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status. The protesters also burned effigies of Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary during the demonstration.
Led by Karuna Chatri, President of Jammu and Kashmir Gorkha Sabha, the protest saw hundreds of Gorkhas, including women and children, rallying against the National Conference government and what they termed as “Kashmir-centric leadership.” The protesters voiced their demand for a separate state for the Jammu region, arguing that it would allow them to have a government that would take decisions in their favor and address their specific needs.
