PDP submits resolution in assembly calling for restoration of Article 370 and 35A in original form

Srinagar , Nov 06 : A resolution has been introduced by the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party (PDP) members, including MLAs Sajad Lone and Sheikh Khursheed, calling for the restoration of Article 370 and Article 35-A in their original form. The resolution was presented to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, and expresses strong opposition to the abrogation of these provisions by the Government of India in 2019, as part of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act.

The resolution condemns the decision as unconstitutional and asserts that it stripped the region of its special status and statehood, undermining the protections initially granted by the Indian Constitution. It calls for the immediate restoration of both articles and urges the Government of India to reverse the changes made through the 2019 Act. The resolution emphasizes the importance of preserving Jammu and Kashmir’s distinct identity, culture, and political autonomy by reinstating the constitutional guarantees that were in place prior to the abrogation.
