‘Home Minister has not opposed our resolution’

Srinagar, Nov 09 (KINS): The Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Surinder Chowdary, stated on Saturday that land and job protections can be ensured only if special status is restored.
He also claimed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has not condemned the National Conference’s resolution supporting special status for Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the news agency KINS, the Deputy Chief Minister told reporters in Sopore that although the Home Minister has assured in Parliament that Jammu and Kashmir’s land and jobs would be protected, this promise can only be fulfilled if special status is restored.
He clarified that the assembly passed this resolution to support the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
Chowdary’s comments came after Amit Shah’s recent statement that neither Congress leader Rahul Gandhi nor his future generations could bring back Article 370.
The Deputy CM said that instead of addressing urgent issues in the legislative assembly, BJP MLAs have ignored topics like unemployment, industrial policies, illegal mining, Anganwadi services, and the wine policy—which he claimed has forced locals out of economic opportunities.
According to Chowdary, “BJP seems more focused on keeping their positions than solving people’s problems.”
While recognizing that security issues have affected the Jammu and Kashmir, Chowdary said that the government will always support the security forces for restoring peace in the Union Territory.(KINS)
