Cold wave tightens grip in Kashmir, Srinagar records -5.3°C, Anantnag, Shopian freeze at -8.9°C

Srinagar, Dec 17 (KINS): A severe cold wave has gripped Kashmir, with temperatures dropping sharply across the region.
According to information provided by the private forecaster, (Kashmir weather), Anantnag, Shopian, recorded the lowest temperature at -8.9°C, while Srinagar recorded -5.3°C.
Other cold spots included Qazigund at -6.0°C, Pahalgam at -6.8°C, and Sonamarg at -7.7°C. Gulmarg, a popular skiing destination, recorded a milder -4.0°C. Kupwara and Bandipora both registered -5.6°C.
In the Jammu region, Padder reported -8.3°C, while Banihal stood at -3.4°C. Katra and Kathua remained comparatively warmer at 6.7°C and 5.0°C, respectively. Jammu city recorded 4.9°C.
Ladakh experienced the coldest temperatures. Kargil froze at -12.5°C, while Leh recorded -8.8°C.
Authorities have warned that the cold wave may intensify further in the coming days and advised people to take precautions against the extreme cold.(KINS)
