Focus on efficient, result-oriented governance, ‘not terrorizing Govt officials’: Arun Gupta

Srinagar, Dec 28 (KINS): Arun Gupta, Spokesperson for the Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), today emphasized the importance of efficient, result-oriented governance, urging the Jammu & Kashmir government to prioritize performance over political theatrics.
As per BJP press release, Arun Gupta was addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, accompanied by Adv. Sunil Sethi, Chief Spokesperson of J&K BJP, and YV Sharma, Spokesperson of J&K BJP.

During the press conference, Sunil Sethi highlighted that the National Conference (NC) had received significant support in the recent Assembly elections, particularly from Kashmir, which allowed it to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir.

He noted that the NC’s election manifesto had promised much to the people, but two months after the formation of the government, tangible governance results have been absent. “The NC has failed to address the aspirations of the people and has neglected core issues, focusing instead on political statements,” Sethi remarked.
Arun Gupta, in his address, acknowledged the progress made under the leadership of the Modi government, which, he said, had brought Jammu and Kashmir out of a period of devastation. “The Modi government has worked tirelessly to rebuild Jammu and Kashmir, and we will not allow the NC to derail this progress,” Gupta asserted.
He further criticized the NC-led government for focusing more on terrorizing government officials in one region than on prioritizing good, efficient, and result-oriented governance. “The government should set clear targets and work towards achieving them efficiently,” Gupta stated. He added that the NC had failed to evolve with the times, continuing to operate under a pre-2014 governance model characterized by zero accountability.
Gupta also reminded the Chief Minister that the state had more than 35 crucial departments, ranging from Agriculture to Tourism, and it was imperative for the government to focus on performance rather than politicizing every issue. “We all seek statehood, but that should not hinder the performance of the government,” he said.
He further mentioned that since 2014, the Government of India had worked hard to improve governance and elevate India’s status from one of the ‘fragile five’ economies to being poised to enter the top three global economies. Gupta warned that if the NC government continued its current trajectory, it would not only undermine governance but also fuel the growth of separatism.
Gupta stressed the difference between political governance and administrative governance, urging the NC government to focus on people’s requirements, implement necessary actions, and then monitor progress effectively. He also pointed out that the Union Government had provided a substantial package for employment generation, which could boost industries, services, and hospitality sectors in Jammu and Kashmir. The focus, he said, should be on creating employment opportunities.
He advised the Jammu & Kashmir government to refrain from making unnecessary comments that could discourage investors. “If you cannot initiate projects on your own, at least continue with the ‘Government of India’ schemes that are fully funded,” he added. Gupta concluded by stating that non-performance equates to deceiving the people’s mandate, and that the government’s manifesto must be fully implemented. “When you are in power, politics takes a backseat—only performance matters,” he concluded.(KINS)
