CM reviews winter tourism preparedness with MLA Gulmarg

Srinagar, Dec 30 (KINS): With the winter season in full swing, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday held a crucial meeting with Gulmarg MLA Farooq Shah to review the preparations for the anticipated influx of visitors and skiers at the picturesque ski destination of Gulmarg.
During the meeting, according to news agency KINS, detailed discussions were held to ensure that Gulmarg, renowned for its pristine snow-covered slopes, is ready to welcome tourists from across the globe.
Sources said the Chief Minister called the need for efficient management and seamless coordination among departments to provide world-class facilities and services to visitors.
Sources said MLA Gulmarg, Farooq Shah, apprised the Chief Minister of the ongoing efforts to enhance the region’s infrastructure. Shah further highlighted that adequate measures have been taken to ensure safety and accessibility amid predictions of heavy snowfall in the coming days.
Recognizing the economic significance of winter tourism, Omar directed officials to ensure uninterrupted electricity, sufficient water supply, and the availability of medical services. He also called for robust snow clearance mechanisms on roads leading to Gulmarg to facilitate smooth movement for both tourists and locals.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that the proactive measures being taken would boost tourist footfall, contributing to the region’s economy and showcasing Gulmarg’s potential as a premier winter sports destination. (KINS)
