Farooq Abdullah visits Golden Temple, calls for Unity and spoke on the restoration of statehood to J&K

Srinagar, Feb 25 (KINS): National Conference (NC) President Farooq Abdullah visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Tuesday and offered prayers.

Later, speaking to reporters, he emphasized the importance of national unity and reiterated his stance on the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood.

“It is very unfortunate. Bharat belongs to everyone—Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims, Christians, Jains, and even those who do not follow any religion. The fire that has been ignited is a political one, merely to win votes. This should not have happened. Bharat will remain united as long as we remain united,” Abdullah stated.

The NC Chief further asserted that the people of India must stand together in times of crisis. “If any Bharatiya faces adversity, we will stand united and deal with it together. It has happened before, and it will happen again,” he added.

When asked about the challenges faced by minorities in the country, Abdullah acknowledged their concerns and highlighted the broader issue of Jammu and Kashmir’s downgraded status. “It is not a state; it has been reduced to a Union Territory. We hope that statehood will be restored,” he said.

Commenting on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir post the abrogation of Article 370, he remarked, “You should come and see for yourself.”

He also pointed out that every state in India has its own unique set of problems, criticizing the central government for failing to address them adequately. “Every state has its own problems, but the central government does not understand them. If we want to keep India united, we must acknowledge and address the concerns of all its people. US President Donald Trump says ‘America First.’ Why don’t we say ‘India First’?” he questioned.(KINS)
