Three more groups in J&K dissociate from Hurriyat: HM Amit Shah
Srinagar, Apr 08 (KINS): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday stated that three more political groups—Jammu Kashmir Islamic Political Party, Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Democratic League, and Kashmir Freedom Front—have disassociated themselves from the separatist Hurriyat Conference.
With this, a total of 11 organisations in Jammu and Kashmir have now severed ties with the Hurriyat, signalling, according to Shah, a growing trust in the Indian Constitution.
“This is a significant demonstration of the people’s faith in the Constitution within the valley,” Shah posted on X, during his ongoing three-day visit to J&K.
He said the development further strengthens Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a united and strong Bharat.
In March, several Hurriyat constituents—including Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement, Democratic Political Movement, and Freedom Movement—also announced their exit from the separatist fold. Days later, two more groups—J&K Tahreeqi Isteqlal and Tahreek-I-Istiqamat—followed suit.
Shah had earlier remarked that Modi government’s policies had effectively “tossed separatism out of Jammu and Kashmir.”(KINS)
