PM Modi Inaugurates World’s Highest Railway Bridge Over Chenab in Jammu’s Reasi

Reasi, June 5 (KINS): In a historic moment for Indian infrastructure and engineering, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the Chenab Railway Bridge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district — the highest railway bridge in the world.

Towering 359 meters above the Chenab River, the iconic steel arch bridge is a marvel of modern engineering, surpassing even the height of the Eiffel Tower. Built at a cost of ₹1,486 crore, the bridge is a key part of the ambitious Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, aimed at enhancing connectivity in the Himalayan region.

Designed to endure extreme weather conditions and seismic activity, the Chenab Bridge can withstand wind speeds of up to 260 km per hour. With a projected lifespan of 120 years, it stands as a testament to India’s growing capabilities in complex infrastructure development.(KINS)
