Jammu, July 17 (KINS) :Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat on Thursday conducted a high-level security review at the Buchohemandi View Point in the Akhnoor Sector, along the Line of Control (LoC), to assess the overall security preparedness in the border region.
The DGP was accompanied by senior officers from the Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), underlining the spirit of inter-agency cooperation critical to maintaining peace and order in the sensitive frontier area.
News agency KINS, reported that during the visit, DGP Prabhat received detailed briefings from field commanders on the current security scenario, deployment patterns, infiltration threats, and recent activities observed across the LoC. The review focused on enhancing surveillance capabilities, streamlining coordination mechanisms, and ensuring swift operational responses to any cross-border challenges.
Emphasizing the importance of inter-agency synergy, the DGP said,
“Robust coordination between the Army, CRPF, and J&K Police is essential for effective border management. Our collective strength lies in timely information sharing, joint planning, and seamless ground execution.”
He also highlighted the need to leverage modern technology, including real-time surveillance systems, drone monitoring, night-vision equipment, and intelligence-based patrolling, to plug infiltration gaps and improve situational awareness along the LoC.
The top police officer lauded the commitment and professionalism of the security forces operating in tough terrain and extreme conditions, and reaffirmed the government’s resolve to provide all necessary logistical and technological support.
“The security of our borders is non-negotiable. Every effort will be made to strengthen the security grid, and ensure peace and safety for our citizens living in border areas,” the DGP added.
The Akhnoor Sector, which lies close to the International Border and LoC, has strategic significance and has witnessed frequent ceasefire violations and infiltration attempts in the past. The visit by the DGP and senior officers reflects a proactive approach to maintaining operational readiness and safeguarding national security interests. (KINS)
