Srinagar, Aug 27 (KINS): To deal with the ongoing spell of heavy rainfall, Srinagar Police on Wednesday announced a comprehensive emergency response mechanism to ensure the safety of residents and smooth movement across the city.
A police spokesperson said special teams have been deployed in low-lying and waterlogged areas to provide immediate help, including evacuation if required.
“In view of the continuous adverse weather conditions across J&K, Srinagar Police, in coordination with the District Administration, has launched a response plan to safeguard the lives and mobility of citizens,” the spokesperson said.
The mechanism includes swift dewatering and sanitation drives, traffic regulation on congested routes, diversion of vehicles from flooded zones, and round-the-clock response to emergency calls through the Police Control Room (PCR) and designated helplines.
The spokesperson added that people facing difficulties can reach Srinagar Police via the issued helpline numbers and the CUG contacts of district police officers.
Police also urged citizens to: Avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall, Report waterlogging, fallen trees, or electrical hazards to the nearest police station or PCR, Follow advisories and cooperate with field staff during rescue or clearance operations.(KINS)
