Police secure conviction in three underage driving cases in Sopore

Srinagar, Jan 25 (KINS):Police in Sopore on Sunday claimed that they have secured convictions in three cases of underage driving, showing strict action against traffic rule violations.
According to police, three vehicles—JK05P-5708, JK05N-1830 and JK05K-2552—were found being driven by minors without valid driving licences. The vehicles were seized and cases were presented before the DMMT Court in Sopore under the Motor Vehicles Act.
Police said that the court convicted the registered owners, who are parents of the minors. As punishment, the registration of the vehicles has been suspended for 12 months. The parents were released on probation, while the ARTO has been directed not to issue driving licences to the concerned minors until they reach the age of 25 years, as per law.
Police have appealed to parents and guardians to strictly stop minors from driving, stating that underage driving is illegal and poses a serious risk to public safety.
Police further said they remain committed to strict traffic enforcement and road safety, and urged the public to cooperate in maintaining discipline on roads across Police District Sopore.(KINS)
