Jammu, Feb 06 (KINS): The government on Friday informed the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly that it is taking all necessary steps to fill vacant posts across various departments in the Union Territory.
In a written reply to Starred Assembly Question No. 1127 raised by Dr. Bashir Ahmad Shah (Veeri), the government as per news agency Kashmir Indpeth News Service (KINS) said that a large number of posts remain vacant due to retirements, promotions, and routine administrative processes.
Assuring the House, the government stated that recruitment is being carried out in a phased and systematic manner in accordance with existing rules and regulations. It said that appointments are being made through the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) and the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) to ensure transparency and compliance with statutory provisions.
Addressing concerns over the impact of vacancies on public service delivery, the government said that several departments have adopted digital platforms to improve efficiency and reduce dependence on manpower. It added that rational deployment of staff, inter-departmental support, and proper delegation of duties have helped in maintaining essential services.
The government further informed the House that citizen grievance redressal and feedback mechanisms are in place to ensure prompt resolution of issues. It maintained that priority sectors such as health, education, power supply, and food distribution remain fully functional, and that emergency and essential services are adequately staffed.
Replying to another query regarding the regularisation of Casual Labourers, Daily Rated Workers, HDF Workers, and other temporary employees, the government said that a committee has been constituted to examine the matter.
Referring to Government Order No. 384-JK(GAD) of 2025 dated March 19, 2025, the reply stated that the committee has been tasked with studying humanitarian, legal, and financial aspects related to the regularisation of such workers. The panel will submit its recommendations after examining all relevant issues. (KINS)
