Recruitment delays leave J&K candidates frustrated

Srinagar Feb 16 (KINS): The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) is facing criticism over prolonged delays in the recruitment process for various posts in the Forest Ecology and Environment department. Advertised back in 2021, the examination for these posts was conducted only in March 2025, after a gap of nearly four years. The board published the provisional selection list on 24th September 2025, but five months later, the final list is yet to be declared.
Many candidates have expressed frustration, alleging that the recruitment system is being misused. “The J&K SSB and PSC collected Rs 48 crore from unemployed youth. Advertising new posts seems like a scam, only to generate revenue, as it takes years to complete the recruitment process,” said one candidate, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Another candidate, already selected, voiced concerns over personal implications. “I am at the verge of overage now. Five years have passed, and despite my selection, the recruitment is still incomplete,” he told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS).
With thousands of aspirants awaiting their appointments, the delays have sparked anger and anxiety among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. Experts say that prolonged recruitment processes not only affect candidates’ careers but also erode trust in public institutions.
Officials from J&K SSB could not be contacted for comments. Once they respond, the story will be updated accordingly. (KINS)
