Pulwama DCC President Umer Jaan observes August 5 as ‘Black Day’, seeks restoration of Statehood

Pulwama, Aug 5 (KINS): District Congress Committee (DCC) President Pulwama, Umer Jaan, on Tuesday in a statement said that he observed August 5 as “Black Day”.
According to a statement, Umer Jaan said the day reminds people of the importance of democratic values, constitutional rights, and meaningful public participation in decisions affecting Jammu and Kashmir. He reiterated the Congress party’s demand for the restoration of full statehood to the Union Territory and called for strengthening democratic institutions, safeguarding constitutional guarantees, and ensuring justice, dignity, and equal opportunities for all.
He also appealed to the youth to remain committed to peace, democracy, and constitutional values, urging them to raise their voices through lawful and democratic means. According to the statement, he said the future of Jammu and Kashmir lies in democratic empowerment and constitutional rights.(KINS)
