Srinagar, May 13: The Election Commission of India late in the evening said that Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency witnessed a substantial voter turnout of 36.58% as of 8 p.m., marking one of the highest participations in many decades.
“The enthusiasm among voters was palpable as they queued up since early morning to exercise their democratic right”.
“Several assembly segments within the constituency, including Chadoora, Chah-i-sharief, Ganderbal, Kangan, Khansahib, and Shopian, surpassed the 45% mark in voter turnout, indicating a robust engagement with the electoral process. Moreover, areas such as Budgam, Ganderbal, Pulwama, and Shopian also reported peaceful and high turnout polling”.
“The voting process unfolded smoothly across the 2,135 polling stations spread throughout the Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency. To ensure transparency and accountability, live webcasting was employed at all polling stations, allowing for real-time monitoring of the electoral proceedings”.
The peaceful conduct of polling across various districts, including Srinagar, Ganderbal, Pulwama, Budgam, and Shopian, highlights the success of security measures and voter awareness initiatives undertaken by authorities.
