Srinagar:In preparation for Muharram, the Commissioner of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) stated that the corporation implemented comprehensive infrastructure and sanitation improvements to ensure a smooth and safe observance of the occasion.
“With pre-planning, we successfully identified the necessary roads and promptly executed macadamization,” stated the Commissioner. “This has ensured that the main procession routes are in excellent condition, facilitating easy movement for the participants.”
In addition to road enhancements, SMC has installed street lights along key routes to improve visibility and safety during evening events. “We also installed street lights to enhance visibility,” the Commissioner added, highlighting the importance of adequate lighting for nighttime activities.
Sanitation has been a key focus in the Muharram preparations. The Commissioner praised the efforts of SMC’s sanitation teams, who have extended their working hours to maintain cleanliness throughout the event. “Our dedicated sanitation teams, who typically work tirelessly on the ground, have now extended their working hours to ensure that sanitation tasks are completed from early morning until late evening,” he noted.
