Kerala, Jan 22 (KINS): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced the Central government’s decision to establish 100 new sainik schools across India, a move aimed at improving the quality of basic education and fostering the nation’s overall development.
Speaking at the 47th annual day celebrations of the Vidyadhiraja Sainik School in Alappuzha, Singh emphasized the government’s commitment to broadening access to sainik schools. He highlighted that the Centre has also facilitated the admission of girls to these institutions, marking a significant step towards inclusive education.
“The expansion of sainik schools to every region and district will ensure representation from diverse cultural backgrounds and remote areas of the country,” Singh said. He noted that this initiative would strengthen the foundation of education and build a robust future for India.
The Defence Minister underscored the importance of self-reliance as the nation progresses in sectors like health, communication, industry, transport, and defence. “A revolution in education and the holistic development of children is crucial for achieving self-reliance,” he remarked.
Singh also spoke about the multifaceted qualities of soldiers, emphasizing that they should not be viewed solely through the lens of warfare. “A soldier embodies discipline, self-control, focus, and selfless service,” he said, adding that these attributes are essential for leadership and have been exemplified by figures such as Swami Vivekananda, Adi Shankaracharya, and Raja Ravi Varma, whose contributions spanned social, cultural, political, and religious reforms.(KINS)
