Directs Intensified Campaign for PM Surya Ghar – Muft Bijli Scheme
Baramula, Feb 02 (KINS): MD KPDCL, Mahmood Ahmad Shah, visited Baramulla district today, where he chaired a meeting with engineers to review the power situation and progress of various centrally sponsored schemes.
The meeting was attended by SE Muhammad Hussain, Executive Engineer Ajaz Ronga, and other officers from Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Ltd. (KPDCL).
At the outset, MD KPDCL conducted a firsthand assessment of the power situation in the district and instructed officers to ensure a stable power supply to both major towns and remote areas. He was briefed on the damages to transformers and their replacements.
During the meeting, MD Shah emphasized the need for quick restoration of power during inclement weather and timely replacement of damaged transformers as per established timelines. He was also updated on the IEC awareness camps organized across the district to promote the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojna.
It was reported that 816 applications have been received so far, with 28 units installed. Shah directed that all applications be processed and installations completed by the end of March 2025. He further emphasized the importance of supporting applicants in the installation process and ensuring continued efforts for maximum benefit to consumers.
MD Shah also visited various receiving stations, feeders, worksites, and grid stations. He conducted an on-the-spot review of the ongoing RDSS distribution works in Baramulla, including those in Garkote, Boniyar, Pahlipora, Bandi, and Watergam, as well as smart metering initiatives.
Additionally, he inspected the charging of Distribution Transformers (DTs) and AB Cabling network in Uri Town, executed earlier under IPDS.
While inspecting these works, MD Shah stressed the importance of adhering to safety protocols to ensure the well-being of staff and workers.(KINS)
