Uproar in J&K Assembly over daily wagers’ regularisation, CM calls it a ‘humanitarian issue’

Jammu, March 11 (KINS): The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Tuesday witnessed a heated arguments over the regularisation of daily wagers, with opposition parties demanding immediate action and criticizing the use of force against protesting workers.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused the ruling National Conference (NC) of failing to address the concerns of daily wagers over the years. BJP leaders called for their immediate regularisation and condemned the police action against them.
“The police should not have used force on them on Monday when they were fighting for their rights,” Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said while addressing the Assembly. He stated that the issue of daily wagers was not merely a financial concern but a humanitarian one.
“Police are not under our control. Instead of shouting here, you should take this up with Raj Bhawan,” the CM told BJP legislators, according to news agency KINS.
In response to the BJP’s accusations, NC leaders hit back, stating that the opposition party had done little for daily wagers during its tenure.
The uproar in the Assembly continued for some time, with legislators exchanging heated arguments over the matter. The issue of daily wagers remains a significant challenge for the government, as thousands of workers continue to demand job security and better working conditions. (KINS)
