Dr. Abhijeet Singh Jasrotia slams “INDI Alliance for misleading public over Waqf Amendment Act”
Jammu, Apr 08 (KINS): BJP spokesperson Dr. Abhijeet Singh Jasrotia launched a scathing attack on the INDI Alliance over their protest in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly regarding the Waqf (Amendment) Act, accusing them of misleading the public and staging theatrics to divert attention from governance failures.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, and flanked by BJP Media Incharge Dr. Pardeep Mahotra and party leader Amit George, Dr. Jasrotia as per KINS alleged that the alliance has failed to deliver in the past six months and is using the Waqf Act controversy as a distraction from real issues.
He termed the opposition uproar in the Assembly a “planned conspiracy,” and cited Article 252, Clause 2 to defend the legality of the Waqf (Amendment) Act passed by Parliament, stressing that the matter is currently sub judice. “Wasting Assembly time on this is a betrayal of public trust and misuse of taxpayer money,” he said.
Dr. Jasrotia also questioned why MPs from these parties did not object to the Act during the parliamentary debate. “This drama in the Assembly is merely to hide their failures and fool the public,” he said.
He accused the alliance of harming the interests of Pashmanda Muslims, especially those dependent on the current tourist season. “Do they want to take away the livelihoods of Shikara operators and street vendors?” he asked.
Targeting parties like the National Conference (NC), he accused them of repeating decades of broken promises. “For seventy years, they ran on hollow slogans. Nothing has changed even now,” he remarked.
Calling for legal action against those disrupting House proceedings, Dr. Jasrotia also raised questions about the effectiveness of the Waqf Board in delivering on education, healthcare, scholarships, and pensions.
Citing the Sachar Committee report, he said it had already exposed the “false claims” of these parties regarding Muslim welfare. “Just like they misled the country on CAA and NRC, they are doing it again,” he said, even naming a former Deputy Speaker as part of the alleged “misguidance.”
He concluded by highlighting what he termed the alliance’s double standards, pointing out that the same Act is proposed to be adopted in Kerala, where the INDI Alliance holds power. “They mold laws to suit their vote-bank politics,” he said. (KINS)
