Uniting all political groups to safeguard of Article 35-A: PDP

SRINAGAR, FEB 26 : Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday hailed the efforts of the party president Mehbooba Mufti to unite all political groups of the state to safeguard Jammu and Kashmir’s unique identity and special status.

In a statement issued here, PDP senior leader and MLC Mohammad Khurshid Alam said the stand taken by Mehbooba Mufti  to unify all political parties in the state is worth to hail and reflects the earnest approach and her selflessness to protect Kashmir’s unique identity from any assault. “The undeniable fact is that Mehbooba Mufti by taking such a stand has become emblem of peoples aspirations in Jammu and Kashmir and it is hoped that saner voices will prevail and state is protected from plunging into chaos,” Alam said.

He added that  even while being in the government, Mehbooba Mufti kept opposing sternly the adoption of muscular approach for Kashmir and demanded dialogue and reconciliation be adopted as the only method to address the present crises.

Alam said that the recent fervent appeal made by the PDP President to unite political groups of different ideologies will go a long way in safeguarding Jammu and Kashmir’s integrity and unity and will be marked as new chapter in making of the prosperous state. “The need of the hour is to support the endeavour and rise above the party considerations and political affiliations so that any attempt aimed at diluting the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and undermining its integrity is foiled with unanimous and strong leadership,” Alam said and added that the people of Kashmir eagerly hope that the stand taken by the PDP president will elicit positive response from the political groups of Jammu and Kashmir.
