Says, restoration of statehood a “right”, would be considered after delimitation
Srinagar, March 14 : In a major development , the Prime Minster Narendra Modi is understood to have assured Syed Altaf Bukhari led ” Apni Party” delegation that there will be no change in the demography , job and land rights in the Jammu and Kashmir and said , the restoration of statehood was the ” right” of the people and would be considered after delimitation exercise was over.
The PM who had a nearly two hour long meeting with a large group of Apni Party leaders is also believed to have expressed his desire to hold elections in the newly carved out UT ” as soon as Possible”.
A senior leader of the party who was part of the delegation told news agency that the Prime Minster’s response was overwhelming and he interacted with every delegate and listened to the demands put forth by party president Syed Altaf Bukhari with keen interst .
He said PM hailed the party’s move to do away with “dynastic approach” by limiting the number of tenures for the post of party President. Another leader of the party who was also present in the meeting told RNA that PM has assured the delegation that the citizens rights including that of the domicle would be protected.
He said that PM spoke about the scraping of article 370 and said the decission was taken in the interest of the people and was aimed to open the ways for development and prosperity of the UT. He said Mr. Modi said that People of J&K were his own people and he was feeling himself as a ” kashmiri” who has been “adopted by Kaahmiri’s”. He- according to one of the leaders- said that the autonomy of the J&K Bank would be protected and building of power sector , infrastructure, issues pertaining to youth was his top priority.
The delegation led by Party President Syed Altaf Bukhari included Mohammad Dilawar Mir, Gh. Hassan Mir, Chaudary Zulfkar, Aijaz Ahamd Khan, Javid Hassan Being, Shoaib Nabi Lone, Usman Majeed, Raja Manzoor, Noor Mohamamd Lone, Ab. Majeed Padar and others reported RNA.
