Police Crackdown on Gambling in Sopore: Three Arrested, Stake Money Seized

Srinagar, Jan 02: In its ongoing efforts to combat social crimes, the police apprehend three individuals engaged in gambling in Sopore, confiscating stake money during the operation.
Acting on specific intelligence regarding illicit gambling at Muslim Peer Sopore, the Police Station Sopore conducted a raid, resulting in the immediate arrest of Rameez Reyaz Dar, Mohd Ashraf Dar, and Mohd Ayoub Dar. The trio hails from various localities in Sopore.
The police confiscated ₹15,000/- in stake money along with playing cards from the arrested gamblers. Subsequently, the individuals have been transferred to police custody, and a case under relevant legal provisions has been registered at Police Station Sopore. The investigation is now underway.
Law enforcement authorities emphasize that those involved in criminal activities will face the consequences in accordance with the law. The community is urged to collaborate by sharing information on criminal activities within their neighborhoods with the local police units.
